How durable are the boards? Do they stay slidey?

Our aim is for you to be able to play dozens of games (or more! Curling is fun) on a board without any issue. At Gen Con, we ran over 100 demos on each of four boards, and none showed any problems of “slowing down”, warping or damage.

Spills of course could damage them, so keep your drinks away from the table - or consider the extra boards add-on for backups if you want to play this often at a bar or other spill-likely setting!

Why d12s?

We actually tested all different shapes and sizes of dice! Tiny dice, big dice, there was even one prototype where d4s were guards, because they were hard to move. After extensive testing, d12s have the right mix of surface area and rollability to make fun curling shots happen, and sometimes they curl a bit to one side or another, just like the real stones.

d20s were considered also, but they were simply too chaotic.

Can you play without the spells? Just plain old curling?

You can! If you’d like to play pure traditional curling with the components, nothing’s stopping you. We’ve tried that at times and it’s pretty fun.

What are your plans for tariffs?

The reality is that literally anything could happen due to the chaos being sown by the US government. We will figure out a plan based on the conditions present when it’s time to ship. Trying to plan out in advance for what is more or less random policy isn’t a good use of our time. Our goal is to pass on minimal cost if any to backers in affected regions.

Are the components shown final?

The dice are very close to final, we may tweak the colors a tiny bit but we’re very happy with them - they are samples from the factory. The boards are close to what you’ll see - with any printed component the prototype process is slightly different from the final. We’re still tweaking the spell cards and witch mats, and finalizing the box art layout.

Why extra boards?

The extra boards pack is useful if you’re likely to play in a high-spill-risk area and want a backup board in case The Worst happens, but it also allows you to play side-by-side 2 or 3 player games if you’d like.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
